My father was in the Air Force so I moved around a lot growing up (Ohio, Oklahoma, Montana, Wyoming, and Germany). I attended a Christian college in Nebraska with a friend of mine from high school. It was a great place for my faith to grow and it was the place where I was first exposed to missions. After a summer mission to Japan in 2005, I knew that God was calling me to missions. I graduated from college and in October 2007 moved to Japan for a 1-year internship…I ended up staying for seven years! During my time in Japan God gave me all kinds of great opportunities to serve him, including mentoring young adults seeking a path for their future, assisting Americans living and working in Japan in adjusting to a new culture and finding a place to serve in the church and community, and being part of the relief efforts in the years following the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.
